It's eclipse season, and I honestly don't know what that means.
However, My So-Called Bollywood Life is out in this world, and I have some more announcements.
This is a dense newsletter, besties, so I made you an outline.
My So-Called Bollywood Life with an SRK movie bracket
The Letters we Keep is in AFR for April
Event news
Where to purchase by books (I have a storefront for indie)
A few things I’m loving
First of all, friends. MY SO-CALLED BOLLYWOOD LIFE is finally out again in print and in e-book for y’all to purchase!
It is a YA rom-com filled with so many Bollywood movie references that it will hopefully make you want to jump up and dance along to the shenanigans. As a re-pub version, there are bonus scenes and a watch list in the book, too.
To celebrate, I’ve put together a Shahrukh Khan bracket. Feel free to download and share. Tag me in your final match wins!
If you’ve finished MY SO-CALLED BOLLYWOOD LIFE, then you only have 2 weeks left before my next release. Yes, two weeks!
THE LETTES WE KEEP is a college romance between two South Asian students from very different backgrounds who work together to figure out the identity behind a woman who wrote love letters they found in their school library. What’s really awesome about THE LETTERS WE KEEP is that it’s going to be in Amazon First Reads!
With Amazon First Reads, you have the opportunity to download one free book a full month before its official release date. If you have Amazon Prime then you are automatically enrolled in Amazon First Reads. On April 1st, you’ll be able to access my book on your Kindle app or devices.
It’s also super helpful to authors to pre-order the book. It’ll be available in audio, e-book and in print (hardcover and paperback) for you to purchase if you’re interested in snagging a copy!
Annnnd, if you want to see me hang out with Morgan Elizabeth to celebrate the launch of THE LETTERS WE KEEP, you can visit us at Doylestown Bookshop on May 1st at 7PM! We’ll be signing copies of our books! (More details to come)
Speaking of events, I sadly have some updates on that front. I unfortunately won’t be able to attend Apollycon this year as planned *cries*. I made a statement about this in a few different places, but I’m limiting big cons for some health reasons (I AM OKAY).
That doesn’t mean I’m stopping events all together. I’ve updated my list of in-person places I’ll be on my website here.
If you can’t find me at Apollycon and you really wanted some signed books, I have solutions for you:
You can buy signed indie books if you’re in the U.S. and Canada from my storefront here. The shipping costs are insane for outside of US/CAN but if you want to know what it would be for your country, contact me through my website and my fabulous assistant Debra will get back to you with the details.
If you want signed copies of my traditionally published books like DATING DR. DIL, TASTES LIKE SHAKKAR, or MARRIAGE AND MASTI (Coming August 27th), you can order through Doylestown Bookshop. In the comments box, you can indicate if you want the book signed!
And yes, MARRIAGE AND MASTI will have a pre-order giveaway if you order through Doylestown or attend any of the bookstore events during the tour. More later on that front.
As I mentioned in the title, it’s eclipse season and based on TikTok astrologers, this is some sort of thoughtful time for me where I’m not supposed to spend money.
Which is why I immediately went out and spent my money.
Here is a short and quick list of some things that I am loving that I hope you love, too.
What I’ve watched: I re-watched the movie VIVAH (Available on Prime). The colorism is extreme in this one, and they whisper to each other which is weird, but I really enjoyed the nostalgia.
I’ve also just finished 'MISSING: THE LUCIE BLACKMAN CASE’ on Netflix and trigger warnings for SA, but Holy Shit.
What I’ve read: I’ve finished THE ARGONAUTS by Maggie Nelson, and LOSE YOUR MOTHER by Saidiya Hartman, both of which I’ve been obsessed with. If you want to keep up with my PhD reading, you can check out this list I keep up to date on Tertulia.
What I’m listening to: Nalini Singh on audio. Again. Because her books are my comfort reads.
What I’m eating: I just went to Masala Kitchen in Philly for the first time after the Kennedy Ryan signing and oh my god! IT WAS SO GOOD! Highly recommend the Paneer Masala kati roll.
What I’ve purchased: The Summer Fridays lip oil. It has zero staying power, but I wanted to try something new after I ran out of my Merit lip oil. I dont know if I’ll purchase again, but it does have a great texture to it.
Where I’ve gone: I recently came back from visiting my best friend in Boston, and I feel so relaxed after so long! She’s the best, and I’m so grateful to have her in my life.
You’re glad I wrote you an outline at the beginning of this newsletter, aren’t you? Thank you for sticking around for this wild ride! I’m so grateful for all of you in my life.
If you want to know exactly what’s going on with me day to day, then check out my Instagram (@nishawrites). I recently did an event at The BookClub Bar in NYC and another one with Kennedy Ryan at the Philly Barnes & Noble. I also left signed books at the Princeton Barnes & Noble all of which is see in real time on Insta.
Until next month, besties! Happy reading,
xoxo NiShA
